going underground

February 10th, 2008 by Bryan

The family partook in a fun day of scavenger hunting yesterday in Montreal’s vast underground city. Superbly organized by the seemingly tireless Robin Friedman and her smiling green-haired assistant Jody. They sent about 40 local hunters on a wild walk/run/sprint through malls, metro/train stations, hotels, banks (all closed!) and more incredible tunnels than I could have ever imagined. And these aren’t your rinky dink cookie cutter tunnels mind you, there are some slick modern passageways underfoot. Check out the cellphone photo spread below.

Simple rules:
- Go find stuff and bring them back (or photos of said objects)
- Points awarded per object, bonus points for tougher items.
- 2 hours to play, teams can split up (very useful) but be back on time. Oh and don’t step foot outside or use the Metro please!

Sample items from list:
- Beer coaster
- Picture of the Pink forest
- Movie stubs
- Passport application forms
- Train schedule
- Credit card application form
- Something that smells like a strawberry (one team actually found frozen berries!!!)

Here’s a few camera phone shots I took while booting from the Eaton Center to Complex Guy-Favreau. I did pull a sweat heading back…sad.
