Here are some ‘local’ bright spots in the green flooring ring.
Logs End recovers lost timbers from rivers, lakes and streams that were roadways during the logging era. Not only have we adopted a “zero waste” policy for the lumber we harvest, but we are truly committed to the “environmentally sound” retrieval of submerged logs and deadheads.
MondoAmerica (based in Laval, QC…) produces commercial flooring made from natural and synthetic rubber, mineral fillers and color pigments. Unlike products such as VCT and sheet vinyl, these durable, easy to clean floor coverings require no maintenance coatings. The products contain no PVC, solvents, halogens, plasticizers or heavy metals and are available in tiles or rolls.
Found these two companies among a host of others in a great book entitled “Green Building Products - The GreenSpec Guide to Residential Building Materials“ I picked up at the BANQ last week.
