Tiny little snippet in the Gazette this morning informed me of a cool little program Hydro Quebec is initiating this spring. Recyc-Frigo will pay you 60$ for each old fridge or freezer that you want to get rid of this year. A brilliant program in my opinion as it will motivate a homeowner to both make a bit of money AND responsibly recycle their horribly inefficient old appliances.
Bonus points:
- Hydro will pick up the appliance.
- 2 units per household (if you have more, something is seriously amiss)
- HQ will properly recycle the appliances (hopefully by not shipping them to India)
Other notes:
- Appliance must be at least 10 years old
- Should be between 10 and 25 cubic feet
