This time a local producer steps into the ring. The competitors being Liberté and Loblaws brand PC Organics Milk.
Lamothe est Freres milk, squeezing the cow’s teet since 1913. Raises the bar, on Price!
Charging 5.19$ (at Metro) for a 2L jug of 2%, Biolait really puts the squeeze on consumers trying to select the best milk for their body. I’m all for shopping local and helping out the little guy, but I have this unnerving feeling that shoppers going ‘organic’ are just getting gouged.

- Loblaws PC Organic Milk : 3.99$
- Liberté Bio Milk: 4.99$
- Lamothe est Freres: 5.19$ (Update, 3.99$ at Costco. So it looks like Métro is the villain here)

Yeah, that’s a metro thing. But this milk always costs about $.10-.20 more than Liberté. And, if you’re close to the expiration date, it tastes really weird. I bought some on Sunday morning, $4.89, but I made sure that the expiry date was a few weeks from now.
It’s funny…I actually like the taste of the PC organic milk the best (OK, well it’s equal to the Liberte in taste), but at the cheaper price (and considering my consumption these days) easily the hands down winner.
If only our loblaw’s was closer!
If you’re talking about the Loblaw’s on St-Jacques, I would avoid it like the plague that it is. There’s rotting milk on the floor of the milk fridges, and many other disgusting things there.
I suggest going to the Loblaw’s at the Angus Yards, which works out well if you’re going to Rose & Bleu.
