The city created this crosswalk last fall on the corner of Atwater and St-Antoine. It is by far the coolest crosswalk I’ve seen to date. I didn’t witness the process, but it from I can tell the asphalt has been ground down in the cobblestone pattern shown to a depth of around 5mm then the grooves were embedded with a thermoplastic material. White, with yellow banding for better highlights. These pictures were taken a week ago, so you can witness the effects of one winter on the job. Let me say that it is the ONLY street marking to have survived the winter. Every other line in the neighbourhood is currently being redrawn which is story unto itself.


I would like to see SO much more of this. Perhaps with a slightly wider yellow band on both sides. Someone can crunch the numbers…
