May 26th 2008… a crew of four unionized City of Montreal workers arrive to finally repaint our intersection (and every other one in the borough).

These stop lines and cross walks will not be visible past the end of September.

This puts residents, often with babies, children and dogs in tow at a serious risk for 7 months of the year. This is a non-standard intersection where without a visual cue (stop line) 80% of motorists stop well past the ‘line’ at a red light.
Should there ever be a pedestrian injured here, the city should be held accountable for it’s negligence in the length of time the line is faded from view.
From a purely economic viewpoint, having a crew of 4 re-paint EVERY single intersection in the city EVERY spring makes absolutely no financial sense whatsoever. This is ‘make work’ and a total disregard for how our tax dollars are being spent. The city needs to use another method of painting our intersections and they need to act now. Whether it’s a thermoplastic coating or embedding the paint into the roadway to save them from the plows…there are solutions.
